Legendary of Meyan Ella Ihala Kotte
- It was a single stream waterfall back in the days originally. Lately, it has been converted into two small waterfalls. When British invaders were building the railways in Sri Lanka, the railway line crossway in Meeyan Ella at Alagalla was a challenging duty. What they have done to cross the Mia Ella Waterfall is to build a tunnel. As it was challenging what they have done is blocking the block the top of the waterfall and cut two deep holes in the rock. Because of that creation the water would fall into two small waterfalls.
How to reach Meeyan Ella Waterfall
- You can reach the Mia Ella waterfall easily from Ihalakotte railway station. Then walk around 275 meters along the railway line and you may find a small cave named Sangaraja cave. You just have to pass the cave and walk along the railway for another 225 meters and there you will find the 5A tunnel.
Later you will be able to find the old railway line along the cliff of Alagalla rock parallel to the railway tunnel. There you will find the first waterfall which is about 150 meters along the road. Then you will be able to find a large hole in the left wall after about 75 meters.
